Kiba-dachi - Horse Riding Stance

The horse stance should be equal to approximately twice the width of the shoulders. Your weight should be 50/50, feet facing straight forward and have the feeling of pushing you knees out whilst pulling your inner thighs forward. This helps give a stable stance. The heels should be in line with one another and the knees should be bent at an angle of approximately 45-degrees so that the centre of each kneecap is in line (vertically) with the instep of the foot. Since horse stance is an outside tension stance, pull the knees away from one another until they are in line with the toes.
