Reading Shotokan Karate club proudly own the origins of Shotokan Karate in Reading. We have been in Reading since the 1970's. We started under the original name of Reading Japanese Martial Arts Society then Reading Karate Club but we soon had to change this due to a conflict with another karate club and so Reading Shotokan Karate Club was born.

Inspired from the great 70's Kung Fu movies we started with many budding Bruce Lee's and Chuck Norris's. From these early days, many of the instructors from the Reading area were coached to a high level at Reading SKC and left to start their own successful clubs.
